Contact UsWhat are Chemical Peels?
For the highest quality results from chemical peel treatments, Hidden Oasis Med Spa provides you with numerous choices. Your medical-grade chemical peel with exfoliating solutions (such as salicylic, glycolic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) will reveal healthier, more radiant skin. At our San Antonio, TX office, we offer chemical peel treatments that help minimize skin flaws, like scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more. Chemical peels eliminate dead or damaged skin cells using a personalized solution on your skin, which causes the oldest layer to slough off. As your skin heals and starts to rejuvenate and repair itself, you should see a clearer, smoother complexion. A chemical peel treatment is a nonsurgical technique to help make your complexion luminous and may be appropriate for the face and neck. We perform chemical peels in a few levels of strength (light, medium, and deep) to fit our clients' skin needs.
Light peels: You can have a light peel during your lunch break and go right back to your day. This strength of peel will remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis), giving your face a brighter appearance and smoother texture. We usually recommend that you get a light peel around once a month for the ideal glowing results.
Medium-depth peels: This strength of peel penetrates deeper into the skin, and clients usually decide to have this strength of facial treatment over a long weekend. You may also want to prepare yourself for more discomfort during and up to one hour after a chemical peel. Medium-depth peels are best for clients who have deeper damage to their skin, including deeper lines and darker pigmentation problems.
Deep peels: The strongest of the three levels of peels is the deep peel, and it does require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive procedure that can leave your face itchy, swollen, and peeling for a few weeks. Patients who have a deep chemical peel may have dark age spots, sun-damaged skin, significant acne scars, and/or deep-seated scars.
What Are the Benefits of Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels can provide more profound results by going deeper than standard exfoliation. This treatment harnesses specific solutions to meticulously remove layers of damaged skin and reveal a more radiant, youthful complexion. Depending on the intensity of your chemical peel, you can expect a variety of the following benefits from your treatment at Hidden Oasis Med Spa:
- Minimization of pores and other irregularities on the skin
- Evened and calmed skin tone
- Reduced appearance of fine lines and signs of aging
- Hydrated, rejuvenated skin texture
Our Chemical Peel Technique
On the day of your appointment at Hidden Oasis Med Spa, we will have you lie in a relaxed position to administer your peel. We will make sure your skin is clean prior to applying the customized solution to the face, neck, or body. We will brush the solution onto your face and let it work for a specific length of time, which will be determined in your treatment consultation. Finally, we will clean the peel off your skin and put on a neutralizing agent. Patients are encouraged to bring a hat to wear outside after the peel to avoid UV exposure.
Based on the level of the peel you receive, you should expect your skin to itch and peel for a few days to two weeks. Samina or a member of her team will discuss how to care for your face during your consultation. Please keep in mind that no matter how badly your skin itches throughout the recovery, it is never helpful to peel the skin off. You could create scarring on your newly rejuvenated skin.

About UsChemical Peel FAQs
How much does a chemical peel cost?
Laser professional and aesthetician Samina Wasifuddin will discuss your costs during your consultation as soon as she has created your chemical peel treatment plan. Chemical peel costs can vary based on the formula you choose. Hidden Oasis Med Spa accepts several payment methods, and we often run specials on treatments like chemical peels. Buying a package with several chemical peel treatments can also help you save money.
What level should I choose for my chemical peel?
The best chemical peel for you will depend on your unique skin concerns and cosmetic goals. During your initial consultation with Samina, she will help you select which type of peel is right for your skin. Some factors you might want to consider are your overall health, skin type, the depth of your skin concerns, the time you can commit to recovery, and what you want the peel to accomplish. For first-time clients, it is better to try a light peel and see what you think of the results. After this, you and Samina may tweak your plan to discover the best chemical peel level for your needs.
Should I get a chemical peel or dermabrasion treatment?
Chemical peels and dermabrasion are both facial rejuvenation procedures that address surface blemishes to make your skin a softer appearance. The major difference is that dermabrasion uses surgical tools (a shaving instrument or rotating brush) to clear away the surface skin layer with a careful scraping process. A chemical peel applies a caustic solution to your skin to dissolve damaged skin cells. In your initial consultation, Samina will explain the pros and cons of both options and help you decide if a chemical peel or dermabrasion is better for achieving your needs and goals.
Will my face hurt after a chemical peel?
Based on the peel selected, you may feel some discomfort while it is actively treating your skin. If you choose a lighter peel, you will notice a little stinging; however, it goes away quickly with a handheld fan. Medium and deep peels are better for deeper issues and offer results that last a long time; however, they typically cause greater discomfort. Numbing cream, skin medications, and ointments can be applied to minimize your discomfort during your chemical peel. Samina or a member of her team will speak with you about skin care after your chemical peel to extend your results.
Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?
For even greater improvements to your skin, you may combine a chemical peel with another nonsurgical skin treatment at Hidden Oasis Med Spa. During your initial consultation, share your skin and cosmetic wants with Samina so she can create a unique treatment plan that delivers your best results. This may include adding an injectable treatment for wrinkles (like BOTOX® or JUVÉDERM®) along with your chemical peel to rejuvenate your entire appearance.
